ready to Rock guitar (2023)
Ready to Rock was developed by the Joliet City Center Partnership, Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and the City of Joliet to showcase Downtown Joliet, draw visitors to the area, and boost community pride.
My friend Dante DiBartolo and I were selected to paint one of the twelve 6-foot guitars that were displayed in Downtown Joliet May-Oct 2023. To our surprise, a photo of us from the ribbon cutting ceremony for R2R made the cover of the @hcdestinations "The First Hundred Miles" travel magazine! The magazine is an @enjoyillinois mag that highlights attractions & events tourists can experience on the first 100 miles of @route66official in Illinois.
Guitar Location: Joliet Union Station
Guitar Sponsor: D’Arcy Buick GMC
Guitar Name: “Kick It!”
Funds Raised by Guitar: $6,000 USD
Design Concept: Our guitar concept was based on 3 key themes:
Mayor Terry D’Arcy’s fondness and sponsorship of the Taste of Joliet and its fireworks show.
Getting kicks on Route 66, one of Joliet’s main tourist attractions.
70’s and 80’s aesthetics & car culture. Bold colors, dynamic poses, an iconic rock n roll style that appeals to all ages and screams “READY TO ROCK”!
